A coordinated skincare routine is essential to achieve long-term results and give your skin the perfect care. You should always consider your skin's individual needs and, most importantly, pay attention to specific ingredients. Here, we share the most important tips for building your own skincare routine.
Why should you follow a skincare routine?
A well-thought-out skincare routine is more than just a trend – it's an essential part of healthy skin care.
After all, your skin is exposed to a variety of environmental stressors every day, such as UV radiation, pollution, and more. Skincare helps to cleanse our skin from daily dirt and prepare it for daily impacts.

A routine is therefore essential to regularly care for the skin and do something good for it. The focus here is primarily on regularity, because only with a continuous, regular routine will you achieve real results.
Adjust to your skin type
A skincare routine can look very different – what might work for one person might not be tolerated by your skin at all. It is therefore particularly important to adapt your routine to your skin, its needs and problems, and your specific skin type.
What does each skin type need?
- Dry skin needs rich, nourishing products with ingredients like hyaluronic acid, ceramides, or oils.
- Oily skin benefits from light, non-comedogenic products that regulate excess sebum, e.g., with niacinamide or salicylic acid.
- Combination skin requires a balance – light textures in the T-zone, richer care on dry areas.
- Sensitive skin should opt for mild formulations without irritating fragrances; soothing ingredients like panthenol or aloe vera are ideal here.

The most important ingredients for your skincare routine
Regardless of your skin type, there are some ingredients that fit into every skincare routine and offer great benefits regardless of skin condition.
Hyaluronic acid is considered an absolute must-have in every routine. It is particularly well-tolerated and provides all skin types with plenty of moisture. There are low and high molecular weight hyaluronic acid types that work both in the deeper skin layers and as a protective film on the skin.
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is an effective anti-aging ingredient. The acid acts as an antioxidant, thus protecting the skin from the influence of free radicals, reducing pigment spots, and providing a radiant finish.
Retinol and Retinal belong to the vitamin A family, promote cell renewal, and thus work against wrinkles and impurities. Caution with sensitive skin – it is important to gradually accustom the skin to the active ingredient.
Niacinamide has brightening properties, regulates sebum (especially helpful for oily skin), refines pores, and strengthens the skin barrier.
Ceramides are natural components of the skin and support the skin's protective function.

The Basic Skincare Routine
A basic skincare routine should include cleansing, moisturizing, and protection (especially UV protection). In addition, you can further care for your skin to improve specific skin conditions (acne, dryness, hyperpigmentation, etc.).
- Cleansing: Cleanse skin morning and evening to remove dirt, sebum, and make-up.
- Care: Nourish skin with serums or creams and address individual needs.
- Protection: Always apply sunscreen during the day – the most important step in preventing skin aging.
If you want to do more, you can also integrate toners, peels, or masks – but these should be used consciously.

Skincare Routine by Season
You can and should adjust your routine according to the season – after all, your skin is exposed to different temperatures and, for example, loses more moisture in winter.
- Spring/Summer: Light textures, gel creams, strong sun protection, possibly mattifying products
- Autumn/Winter: Rich creams, moisturizing masks, barrier protection against dry heating air and cold.
Skin needs change with the seasons – flexible adjustment of your routine prevents feelings of tightness or impurities.
Mistakes you should avoid in your skincare routine
Even if all the information has hopefully already helped you, I would like to give you a few last tips that will hopefully help you avoid the most common mistakes.
- Too many products at once: The skin becomes overwhelmed and reacts with irritation.
- No sun protection: Even the best care does little if the skin is exposed to UV rays unprotected.
- Aggressive cleansing: Removes the natural skin barrier and leads to dryness or over-oiling.
- Impatience: Skincare takes time – visible results often only appear after several weeks.
We hope these tips have helped you! Please let us know if you have any further questions or comments.
