When it comes to Halloween makeup, you can choose from a variety of looks – do you want your makeup to complement your costume or should the makeup be the focus?
With special Halloween makeup, you can give yourself a new look, from simple to extravagant. You can be inspired and guided by our ideas, or you can unleash your creativity and conjure up something completely new.
Because the most important thing with Halloween makeup is that you can be bold, emphasizes Lucie, makeup artist and social media manager at PURISH. Above all, Halloween makeup can be achieved in just a few steps, without much experience.
Personally, she finds the zombie or devil look easiest. "For the devil, you just need a headband and can do glamorous makeup with a black or red lip," explains Lucie. After all, not every Halloween look has to be scary.
If you're short on time, don't have much makeup, and want to create a simple Halloween look, here are our top tips:
- Go for strong contrasts – anything is allowed on Halloween. Use lots of translucent powder to make your face appear chalky white. Wear lots of dark eyeshadow, or opt for blood-red lips.
- Work with shading – using your regular contour product or black eyeshadow and a fluffy blending brush, you can create a skeleton/skull look. Apply a generous amount of product directly under your cheekbones, extending down to your mouth, and contour your nose in an unnaturally thin line. Shading on your forehead and around your eyes is also a must. With a few straight strokes on your mouth, you can create an "undead" smile.
- If you need it really quickly: Use black eyeliner for whiskers on the cheeks and a black nose. Connect the nose to the mouth with a line. Highlight the lips in black as well. Your cat Halloween makeup is complete.
- Never without primer – primer is essential for a long-lasting Halloween look, explains Lucie. You can even skip sunscreen sometimes so the primer stays on better and doesn't crumble. This is also a good thing, since most Halloween parties take place in the evening anyway.
Scary and Classic: Zombie Makeup for Halloween
Transform yourself into the undead this Halloween and create an extraordinary zombie look. Of course, you can use lots of fake blood and apply scary makeup.

Instructions for Zombie Makeup for Halloween
- Apply your normal base makeup and put in spooky contact lenses.
Then apply the shade “Holy Light” from the Lethal Cosmetics The Conjuring Palette to the entire eyelid. - Now, using the Infinity Ink Eyeliner from LH Cosmetics, draw a dramatic winged eyeliner, based on the shape of your eyes. Feel free to be bold and draw the liner thicker than you would for your everyday look.
You can use the eyeliner to add additional patterns and small decorations – let the photo inspire you and let your creativity run wild! - Use the eyeliner to draw additional symbols such as crosses, stars or moons to complete the makeup.
- Now create special effects with the shades "Conduit" and "Clairvoyant" from the Lethal Cosmetics The Conjuring Palette. Alternatively, you can use other colors if they better match your outfit.
- Use fake lashes for a dramatic eye look.

Simple Joker-style Makeup
The Joker and Harley Quinn are great personas that are easy to create for Halloween. If you don't have an elaborate costume, you can simply apply classic Joker makeup and you've got the look!
Joker makeup instructions
- Apply your usual base.
- For a special twist, use a joker color for each eye — green and red. For the green, for example, use the shade "Magic Mush" from the MELT Cosmetics Electrip Eyeshadow Palette, and for the red, use the shade "Strawberry Field" from the same palette. Apply the eyeshadows generously to the upper half of the eyelid and blend them out toward the temple — you don't have to work too hard.
- Choose your favorite concealer and apply it to your eyelid up to the eyeshadow, creating a sharp edge known as a cut crease.
Set the concealer with a loose, translucent powder, such as Danessa Myrick's Beauty Evolution Powder, to prevent the concealer from settling into wrinkles. - Take a kohl pencil, such as the NABLA Bombay Black Waterproof Eye Pencil, and line your upper and lower waterline to make your lashes appear thicker. You can gently blend the texture along the lower waterline for a smudgy effect.
- With an eyeliner, such as the essence STAY & PLAY GEL EYELINER POT, you can create an intense winged eyeliner for a particularly glamorous and intense finish.
- Now apply the eyeshadow to the lower lash line as well – use green on the eye where you previously applied red and vice versa.
- For dramatic special effects, fake lashes are perfect for Halloween makeup to create a dramatic eye look.
Using your favorite eyeliner, draw small drops and lines from the lower lash line. - For the intense red lip and Joker nose, deep red theatrical makeup that is particularly opaque and long-lasting, such as SUVA Beauty Opaque Cosmetic Paint, is ideal. The classic Joker mouth naturally extends beyond the corners of your mouth, so you can really exaggerate this.
- To give your Joker smile a special touch, you can outline your lips with a darker lip liner.

Glamorous Vampire Look for Easy Remake
Whether from Twilight, the Vampire Diaries, or the old classic Dracula: Vampires are an integral part of film and television, and certainly Halloween as well. You can perfectly customize the vampire look, leaving room for your own interpretations.
We love glamorous looks and have opted for a vampire Halloween makeup with a glamorous touch. But there are no limits to your creativity; if you prefer a more subtle look, you can of course customize your Halloween makeup to your liking and, for example, add vampire fangs for that extra something.
Instructions for vampire Halloween makeup
- Apply your usual base makeup.
- Grab your favorite eyeshadow shades, such as those from Lethal Cosmetics' Mellow Grove palette. Apply the lightest shade, such as "Whisper," to your entire eyelid. Blend it carefully. Next, use a darker, more intense shade for the outer corner of your eye, such as "Sway" from the palette, and blend the shade into the crease. Next, use an even darker shade for the crease, such as "Opulence" or "Quiver" from the palette.
- Use a black eyeliner, like Danessa Myrick's Beauty Linework Onyx, to create a winged eyeliner. For a special siren eye effect, you can extend the line to the inner corner of your eye and a few millimeters beyond to visually lengthen your eyes.
- Use a black eyeliner to draw your waterline, extending the line beyond the inner corner of your eye and connecting it to the upper corner.
- Apply a black eyeshadow to your lower lash line and blend it gently for a wicked finish.
- To create the typical veins, you can use a kohl pencil to draw thin lines around the eyes.
- Apply fake lashes to your upper lash line to enhance the intense eye look.
- Wear a dark lipstick, such as the Mesauda Milano Cult Matte Lipstick in Mistress. Line your lips with a matching lip liner beforehand to prevent smudging or bleeding.
- Gently dab some highlighter over the cupid's bow, such as the OFRA Cosmetics Rodeo Drive Highlighter, to bring more focus to your lips and make them appear fuller.
