Tinted lip balm is the ideal intersection between makeup and skincare. But what's the best way to apply the creamy texture? After all, the finish should look especially beautiful and even. Here, I'll share my application tips and show you the best tinted lip balms that I particularly love and that I'm sure you'll love too!
What is Tinted Lip Balm?
Tinted lip balm is the ideal compromise between lipstick and care. Thanks to the nourishing texture of a lip balm, it provides your lips with plenty of moisture and ensures soft and beautiful lips. The hint of color makes your lips look fresher at the same time, and you can subtly accentuate them without the effort of applying lipstick.
Thanks to its lightweight formula, applying tinted lip balm is especially easy – just like a classic Chapstick lip balm! Tinted lip balms and lip balms are also available in various colors, so you're sure to find one that suits you and that you like.

Who is Tinted Lip Balm Suitable For?
Tinted lip balm is suitable for everyone – thanks to the different color variations, you can choose a shade that matches your look. Additionally, tinted lip balms are also ideal for makeup beginners due to their easy application.
Even if you generally don't like or don't use much makeup, tinted lip balms are the ideal way to enhance your natural look a bit.

Tinted Lip Balm: What to Look for When Buying?
Care Ingredients
Lip balm should contain certain ingredients to effectively nourish and hydrate your lips. These ingredients should appear in the INCI list:
- Oils such as jojoba oil, almond oil, castor oil, or sunflower oil strengthen the natural skin barrier and provide moisture.
- Waxes such as carnauba wax, beeswax, or candelilla wax leave a protective layer on the lips and have a hydrating effect.
- Butters such as cocoa or shea butter have a re-fattening effect and are intensely moisturizing.
- Aloe Vera soothes the skin, supports natural regeneration, and provides the lips with plenty of moisture.
- Hyaluronic acid provides moisture.
- Glycerin has water-binding properties and is therefore an intense moisturizer that makes lips appear plumper.
- Vitamin E supports skin regeneration and protects lips from external influences.
- Ceramides strengthen the skin barrier, have a repairing effect, and provide plenty of moisture.
Color Intensity
Tinted lip balms are, of course, nowhere near as color-intensive as lipsticks. Nevertheless, there are slight differences in textures here – some provide a very subtle hint of color, while others are a bit more intense.
You can also choose the texture itself, whether you prefer a glossy finish or a creamy, soft result.

Durability and Wear Comfort
Thanks to their delicate, rather creamy formula, tinted lip balms don't last as long as lipsticks. However, there are also differences here in the various textures, especially in terms of wear comfort.
How to Apply Tinted Lip Balm Correctly
- Exfoliation: With a lip scrub, you remove dead skin cells and thus ensure smoother lips.
- Optional: Apply colorless lip balm to provide your lips with even more moisture.
- Optional: Outline your lips with a lipliner to make them appear fuller and elevate your look to the next level.
- Tinted Lip Balm: Now apply the tinted lip balm evenly to your lips, carefully following the contour of your natural lip shape and gently filling in the inside.
- Reapply: Due to the lightweight texture of lip balms, regular reapplication is important to maintain the desired finish.
