Glossy lips are the ultimate trend and will make your lips an eye-catcher. The effect is easy to achieve and is therefore also ideal for make-up beginners. Learn more about this stunning look here!
Why you'll love the glossy lips look
These reasons will convince you of the glossy lips look:
- The look expertly accentuates your lips without being too much
- Glossy lips are super versatile and can be worn both for everyday wear and for evening make-up - Mara, our graphic designer at PURISH, agrees; glossy lips have been her absolute favourite look for years. No gloss, no Mara!
- The glossy lips finish automatically makes your lips appear fuller and more voluminous (who needs fillers then?)
- Many glossy formulas are also pleasantly moisturising thanks to hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, so you do your lips some good and give them a lot of care
- You can find lip gloss in all possible colours or completely transparent - this makes the look particularly versatile and suits every skin tone!

Choosing the perfect product
For particularly beautiful glossy lips, you can choose from various products. Of course, the classic is lip gloss, which, unlike in the 90s, now feels pleasantly soft and non-sticky on the lips.
Lip gloss comes in different colours or completely transparent. Some lip glosses also contain plumping ingredients such as menthol or cinnamon oil to provide a great plumping effect.
You can also find lip oil in various colours. However, the formula is much more nourishing and often more liquid than classic lip gloss.
Mara prefers to combine lip plumper with lip oil. For her, lip oil is definitely the best product for glossy lips, as it doesn't stick, gives the lips a glossy finish and nourishes them at the same time.
"Plus, you can apply it easily anytime without a mirror. Perfect for on the go!", Mara adds. That's why Mara always has her favourite lip products in her bag – especially fleeky's Glowy Lip Oil and Mesauda's LIPOILOGY have particularly impressed her.

Finding the right colour for your look
To choose the right colour, you can go by your taste or match it to your outfit. Alternatively, you can follow your skin type, for which professionals have defined a specific colour selection and which colour best suits which skin tone:
- Fair skin type: Nude tones to rose
- Medium skin type: Berry tones or coral
- Dark skin type: Fuchsia, bronze or caramel
Tip: If you like, you can also orient yourself to the season.

Step-by-step to the glossy lips look
It's that simple:
- Gently exfoliate your lips with a lip scrub or a washcloth.
- Apply lip balm evenly to your lips and ideally leave it on for about 20 to 30 minutes.
- Apply evenly to the lower lip with the lip gloss applicator, starting in the middle. Gently press your lips together to distribute the product.
Tip: Outline your lips with a lip liner beforehand to make your lips appear larger. You can find more tips on this in our blog post on making lips appear larger.
Note on longevity: As Serena from Gossip Girl once so beautifully said, "Lipstick lasts longer, but lip gloss is more fun," this is (unfortunately) true. You can improve the longevity of lip gloss by gently blotting the top layer and reapplying the product to your lips.
