AHA Exfoliant: The best products for glowy skin

AHAs are among the more well-known ingredients that are said to exfoliate your skin and improve its appearance. Here you'll find a great selection of AHA acid peels along with useful information and tips.

What is an AHA exfoliant?

The abbreviation AHA stands for alpha hydroxy acids. These are water-soluble acids that can be derived from natural substances. The most well-known AHAs in skin care are:

  • Glycolic acid: It is extracted from sugar cane and has the smallest molecular size, which allows it to penetrate the skin particularly well.
  • Lactic acid: Found in fermented milk, it's slightly milder than glycolic acid. It also has a moisturizing effect.
  • Fruit acids (e.g. malic acid, tartaric acid, citric acid): These AHAs are found in various fruits and often have a slightly gentler effect.

Product types with AHA

AHAs are contained in different products and differ in their texture and application.

Benefits of AHA

  • Peeling effect: AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) help remove dead skin cells and make the skin more supple.

How often can you use an AHA peeling?

You shouldn't use AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) peels too often, especially at first. If you want to try a new product, start with once a week. Then gradually increase the frequency to a maximum of every other day.
