  • Sunscreen for the face: Sunscreen for the face not only offers high UV protection but also has nourishing properties. There are also special mattifying formulas to combat the typical shiny look of sunscreen. Various SPFs from 20 to 100 are available.
  • Sun mousse: A lightweight mousse that's perfect for the body and spreads easily. Also available in various sun protection factors (SPF).
  • Sun spray: Sunscreen in a spray bottle, usually for the body, makes application easier and is particularly practical. Such sprays are available with different sun protection factors.

Which Sun Protection Factor Is the Right One?

The sun protection factor (SPF) is the factor by which the time you can spend in the sun is extended. For example, with SPF 30, it would be 30 times longer.

How long you can stay in the sun without sunscreen without getting sunburned, i.e. how long your own skin protection lasts, depends entirely on your skin type.

Here you can determine which type you are based on the different characteristics and then choose the perfect sun protection factor for you.

Celtic type
Very fair, often with freckles; reddish-blonde hair
The self-protection time is approximately 10 minutes
Sun protection factor 50+ is recommended

Nordic type
Fair, often with freckles; blonde to brown hair
The self-protection time is approximately 20 minutes
Sun protection factor 30 to 50+ is recommended

Mixed type
Light to light brown skin, freckles are rare; dark blonde to brown hair
Self-protection time is approximately 30 minutes
Sun protection factor 30 to 50+ is recommended

Mediterranean type
Light brown, olive skin, no freckles; dark brown hair
Self-protection time is approximately 50 minutes
Sun protection factor 30 is recommended

Dark type
Dark brown skin; dark brown to black hair

Tips about Sunscreen

  • Sunscreen should be an integral part of your skincare routine, even in winter!
  • Often forgotten: Make sure you also apply sunscreen to your ears, the backs of your feet and the edges of your clothing.
  • Avoid the blazing sun – you can get a tan even in the shade.
  • Don't underestimate a cloudy sky! The UV index can still be very high, so UV radiation can still damage your skin. Be sure to wear sunscreen even on cloudy days.

Do You Get a Tan Despite Sunscreen?

Yes, because sunscreen protects against UVA and UVB rays, but it can't prevent your skin's production of melanin. Melanin is the substance in your skin responsible for tanning.

What Does "Reef-Safe" Mean?

Reef-safe sunscreens do not contain substances like oxybenzone or octinoxate, which can harm coral reefs. Many brands at PURISH are already formulated in an environmentally friendly way.

How Long Does Sunscreen Last?

Unopened, sunscreen has a shelf life of two to three years. Once opened, you should use it for a maximum of six to twelve months.

You can determine the exact expiration date by looking at the small jar symbol. The number printed there represents the number of months you can use the sunscreen (or any other beauty product).
