  • Your experience with self-tan: If you're a beginner, moisturizing lotions or gradual self-tans are often easier to use and more forgiving of small mistakes.

  • Lotions: They are moisturizing and spread easily, but take some time to absorb.
  • Sprays: Allows for even application, but requires some practice and caution against overspray.

How to achieve the perfect tan – even without sun

With the right self-tanner and the right preparation, nothing stands in the way of a streak-free, natural tan:

  • Exfoliant: Remove dead skin cells to achieve an even result.
  • Moisturizer: Apply a moisturizing body lotion to dry areas such as knees, elbows, and ankles to prevent overtanning.
  • Use gloves: To avoid discolored palms, always wear a special tanning mitt when applying, which allows you to easily distribute the textures.
  • Apply evenly: Work in circular motions, making sure not to miss any area.
  • Let it set in: Give the self-tanner plenty of time to absorb before getting dressed. Follow the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Hands and feet last: Apply self-tanner to hands and feet using only the residue on the mitt for a more natural result.
  • Patience: A full tan usually develops within a few hours. Be patient and apply another layer after a few days if needed.
